AT Consulting Company announces the successful launch of SMS Manager or SMSGW (SMS Gateway) for OJSC "VimpelCom".

The "Notice in Russian" project in OJSC "VimpelCom" was launched in early 2006, as part of the project AT Consulting was responsible for the creation of the complex software SMS Gateway. The result of the project was the development of the New SMS Gateway (SMSGW) system based on the IBM WebSphere Application Server. The system allows you to create and send messages to subscribers based on their language preferences and capabilities of "staggering" long messages on a mobile phone. The new SMS Manager is part of a service-oriented architecture of VimpelCom and provides convenient and secure service to create and send SMS messages for different existing IT systems.

The IBM business on demand technology was used for implementing the project. The WebSphere Application Server provides an environment for Web-based applications, as the intermediate level in the three-tier e-business environment. WebSphere Message Broker, offers enhanced integration with uniform communication interaction and conversion formats and was used as an integration platform.

The new SMSGW system performs the following functions:

• Storing the language preferences of subscribers;
• Receiving of messages as a set of parameters from the information systems of VimpelCom through different interfaces;
• Formation of the derived parameters of final SMS and their preferred customers in the Russian language and transliteration. In cases of sending a long message, it is automatically divided into several parts due to restrictions imposed by the maximum length of SMS messages. In addition, the composition of preferences includes the ability of many modern phones themselves to "stagger" the message, broken into several SMS. This is also taken into account in the formation of a system of SMS;
• Sending of the SMS is generated by SMS-Centers. The load balancing between multiple SMS Centers is provided while transferring;
• Receiving messages from callers is directed to various information systems VimpelCom and its transfer in these systems.

The New SMS Gateway system is now serving in multiple IT systems with a total bandwidth of up to 250 MB / sec, and provides a threefold increase in traffic on the existing hardware.
